A Brief History of Ajumako Traditional Council
Efuwa Ajumako Traditional Council is made up of Chiefs and Elders from each town in the Traditional Area. The Council is headed by the Omanhen of the Traditional Area, Okokodurfo Ogyeabo Kwamena Hammah Ababio as its President.
The Council comprises of Eighteen (18) Divisional Chiefs, Fifty-two (52) Adikrofo, Twenty-two (22) sub-Chiefs and Thirteen (13) Queen Mothers. The seat of the Council is at Ajumako, the capital of Ajumako Enyan – Essiam District.
For any chief to be recognized as a chief for the performance of chiefly functions in the Traditional area, he or she has to swear the Oath of allegiance to the Omanhen at the Traditional Council in the presence of all Council members for onward preparation of his or her gazette. As such the Council serves as the oversight responsibility of the Traditional Area.
The Traditional Area is made up of over fifty (50) towns and villages in the central Region of Ghana.
It is bounded by Enyan Abaasa and Ekumfi Traditional Areas to the East, Enyan Denkyira Traditional Area to the South, Breman Asikuma Traditional Area to the West and Gomoa East Traditional Area to the North.
The Area is mainly an Agrarian community with its fertile soil supporting every crop.
